graphic looks jagged

When I place a "picture" (graphic exported from adobe illustrator as a .wmf
file) into the header area it ends up looking jagged. I am using word 2003.

Have you tried other export/save as options in Illustrator, such as jpeg,
png. Do you get the same effect?

I have tried every format I can think of (including those), and it still
looks either jagged or fuzzy.

Is the image being shrunk to fit, from a very large size, say A4, to a small
"logo" size? This can affect the image look once imported. Maybe reduce in
Illustrator and then export?

Don't know if this will affect, becuase usually this applies to extracting
images from Word, not importing, but check your settings in Tools, Options,
General, Web Options, Pictures; what is the DPI there?
