Graphic not displayable in Office 2000

There must be a type of graphic which you can insert in a document which
displays ok in Office 2003 but won't display in Office 2000. I get documents
from a company which includes its company logo as a picture object in the
document. If I'm looking at it in Office 2000 the logo just displays as an
empty box with a small red cross in the top left corner. I can edit documents
in Office 2000 and the logo will still display correctly when the document is
next opened in Office 2003 so Office 2000 is not altering the formatting.

I've noticed the same with some pictures when using Powerpoint 2000 to open
a powerpoint file created with Powerpoint 2003.

Is there a way of getting these graphics to display correctly in Office 2000?

Grateful for any advice.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately none of the ideas suggested on this link
have resolved the problem. I already had the Tools>Options set as suggested.

Maybe there is some graphic storage format used by Word 2003 which is not
accessible to Word 2000.

Hi Simon,

There was a change in behavior for the EPS graphic type as far as the way the filter for it handles inserted graphics, but generally
the result wouldn't be a 'RedX' (missing converter/corrupted graphic/broken link to a linked graphic). There are also optional
install graphics filters.

Do you have access to the Logo file to see what type of graphic it is?

Thanks for your reply. Maybe the problem is a missing filter. How could I
check if I have all the graphics filters installed? I thought I'd done a full
install of every option from the CD-R. Are there other filters I might find
on Microsoft's web pages?

Alternatively, if the logo was linked to a file on the company's system,
would it be possible to check this?

Grateful for your assistance.

Hi Simon,

For Office 2000 there are both options installation filters and additional download filters.

In Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel bring up your
Microsoft Office choice and use the Add or Remove features choice, and check the settings under 'Office Shared Features=>Converters
and Filters"

The Office Converter Pack can be downloaded through the link in this article:
