Dear voters,

I am only 14 but long to be a designers when I'm older, so have just
launched a new PhpBB site at www.onlinedesigncommunity.co.uk. I have had no
members so far and Google hasn't helped much either.

The only accounts registered are the dummy_x users I have created myself, so
I would ask anyone and everyone, to join up and get as many involved as
possible.

This site will be to help me become a designer, and be a general community
for every designer on the planet!!!

I ask you all to please join up, and if there is any omments, suggestions or

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but you are doing a forum about a
topic that is as common as grass. A Google search turns up 191,000,000
(that's 191 million!) pages.

If you want to get your feet (or your entire body!) wet designing sites,
volunteer to do your church's, school's, a club at school, a friend's
business - if you have older friends.

Well done for planning your future career at 14 and welcome to the trial and
terror world of web design!!

If you're looking for some good guidance, may I suggest you go to
http://webdesignfromscratch.com/ Print off the tutorial, then read and
re-read. You will find some good, clear instructions and suggestions on
design, colour and content.

You don't have to make your website very unusual for it to be successful,
but there are some rules about what you should and should not do. Take some
serious time to read that tutorial and then take a look at a website that
will tell you how not to design a website. http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/
Sometimes knowing what not to do can be very powerful!

p.s. I've already checked that mine isn't there!

Hey man,,, I think it's great that a 14 yr old is spending his time learning
cool stuff instead of drinking beer on the street. If the site doesn't catch
on...just build something else!

....hey and I'll tell ya something else; a friend of mine's son (19) started
out writing little javascripts and making avatars for My Space and selling
them for a few bucks...after a couple of years a guy offered him 150K USD
for his site, so Brad sold it and bought a house and a Lexus...and STILL
makes money doing the same thing!...cool deal.
