You most definitely DO NOT need to use any kind of custom script! What you
need to do is to create several custom enterprise Project fields that
contain formulas and that display the results using Graphical Indicators.
Before you can do that, however, you first need to determine what kind of
schedule variance your organization wants to track (cost variance, work
variance, duration variance, date variance?). You also need to determine
your organization's criteria for what generates a red, a yellow, or a green
stoplight indicator for each variance formula you create. To get started
with the process of creating custom enterprise fields for this purpose,
refer to the following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/CreateStoplightIndicators.aspx

Although the above FAQ is written for Project Server 2003, the basic
information is what you need to do in Project Server 2007. Beyond this, you
might also want to get our book for Project Server administrators, which
thoroughly documents how to create custom fields with formulas and Graphical
Indicators, available for purchase at:

http://projectserverbooks.com/books/implementingadministeringprojectserver2007.aspx

Hope this helps.
