Graphical Indicators

hello, I wandered if someone knows if it is possible to type a number or
letter in a cell and get a graphical character shown in the cell. In MS
Project they have an option for graphical indicators which let you map an
outcome with an graphical image. unfortunately I cannot find something like
this in Excel, is this possible in Excel and if so how? Thanks for you help,
John

There's really nothing built-in to XL that will do that, though you
could use Custom Formatting to display a different character for up to
three ranges of values (then formatting the character with an
appropriate font, such as Symbol or a dingbats font).

One could use a macro to replace an entered value with a graphical one
(which would, of course, replace the cell's value making it unsuitable
as an argument for calculations), or a macro could place a graphic
element on top of the cell, leaving the value unchanged.
