graphics appearing as black rectangles

A colleague has started experiencing a problem in Word 2003 where any
images in a Word document are being shown as black squares or rectangles.

She can open the same document in Word 2000 or Word XP on the same
computer with no problems.

Any ideas about what's she done? It only started happening a few days ago.

Uncheck Tools | Options... | tab View | Picture placeholders.
