Graphics from Doc 2000 to Word 2003

When I open a document with graphics (that were cut and paste special - picture, let's say from Powerpoint) that was produced in Word 2000 and open in 2003 these graphics cannot be seen in any layout - I can see them only in the print preview. I can see any other new one that I cut and paste but not the one that were there before 2003. Has anyone encountered that problem

Thanks
