Graphics from Word 2003 not visible in Word 2000

Trouble

I have the dreaded red X, in the upper left corner of a rectangle the size of
the graphic. The document was emailed to me, but I can locate it an open it
on a network location with the same result. Copy it to my local ws with the
same result. Users of Word 2003 can see the full document, which has about 20
cut/paste screen shots. I can see two of the screen shots only, and when I
toggle the field codes (ALT-F9) I see that they are embedded photoshop
objects. ALT-F9 has no impact on the red x graphics.
Tools/Options/View/Picture Placeholders is not checked.
I have tried slowing down the acceleration on my display settings and that
didn't work either.

Is there something that the Word 2003 author might do to make the graphics
work for me?

Thanks.

Hi Trouble,

If they're embedded objects and you don't have that
app available to you, then you may have a problem,
but it can also be from a linked item that your location
can't reach because Word isn't looking in the right place.

Alt+F9 only works for inline-with-text formatted items.
If File=>Web Page preview has the same result in Word 2000
then see if selecting the item then using Format=>Object/Picture
and changing the layout to Inline with text helps.

FWIW, 20 embedded objects can make for a very large file.

Thanks very much, Bob. I had not tried the web page preview and that works.
The author then discovered that she had incorrectly stored/formatted her
jpegs. Once she made them rgb's, we were in good shape. Thanks again for
getting us looking in the right direction
