Graphics in Microsoft Word 2003 Files

Mike Grey

When working with Word files received from customer many times we encounter a
very fine shadow behind an image. This shadow is so fine that in Photoshop
it registers the white component as 254 rather than the complete white level
of 255. These shadows do not print on all printers, but do print on others.
They are squares or rectangles behind the complete image.

A companion question. Is there any way to source information on an image
that has been placed in a Word document.

One way to get rid of this grid is by applying the “Set transparent colorâ€
(found in the “Picture†toolbox) to the background of your picture. In this
way almost white becomes completely white.
