Graphics in Word 2000

I have used Word 2, and also Word 6 before moving to Word
2000 about 3 years ago.

Drawings and diagrams that I created in earlier versions
of Word seem to disspear for no reason, leaving a blank
box, and sometimes accompanied by an error message "not
enough memory or disk space to display or print the
picture". (I have 1 GB of RAM, and pleny of disk space).

When this happens, I am often unable to select text or
graphics in the doccument, and the doccument itself seems
to 'hang'.

On other occasions, the image is simply replaced by the
words "Error! - No Topic Specified".

This seems to have become a problem since moving to
Windows 2000, as if the drawing programme no longre
functions.

The images can usually be replaced by copying from other
doccuments where the image is still present, but these
seem to dissapear as well.
