Graphics Not In Browser

M

Monica Burns

I uploaded my new website using FP2003, and I've had several people test it
out. Some are using Firefox, a couple use IE.

Some of the users are unable to see the home page just as it was designed.

I am using a top and bottom border, with AllWebs menu add-in software in the
border itself. Below it I have a table with two graphics and text. Below that
table, I have inserted another table which contains text links to my chat
room and BB, and adjoining this cell are cells that contain graphics for my
books and links to excerpts and reviews.

Many users are able to see the page exactly as it was designed, then there
are others (my work computer included) who are a mix between Firefox and IE
that can see everything except for the graphics in the cells that contain my
links and book covers. My website is www.monicaburns.com

I've looked through the newsgroup, but haven't found anything that would
resolve the issue. I'm trying to determine if this is a browser issue or an
issue with my page design in FrontPage. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Try right-clicking the "missing picture" icons and choosing Show Picture. If
that makes the picture appear, then your problem is most likely a slow
communciations link or slow Web server.

Otherwise, right-click the "missing picture" icon, choose Properties, and
see what URL the browser is trying to display. If the DNS name or path is
incorrect, that tells you which part of the image URL you need to correct.

(The pictures swhowed up fine for me, BTW. Erotic passion and explosive
desire indeed!)

Jim, There are no red X's that show the missing pictures and the text links
aren't showing up either. That entire section between the Welcome text
message and the bottom border is nothing but white space. I'm thinking it
might be a problem with my page layout. Are you aware of any issues of
browsers not seeing any graphics or text? Maybe I've done something wrong
with the table layout. It's really bizarre.

Glad you like the evocative text. LOL

Thanks for looking at this. The placement of the AllWebMenus coding was
atuomatically input by AllWebMenus not me.

Additionally, I don't think the menu coding is causing the issues with the
graphics not showing up as there are people who can see the graphics, but
others can't. Everyone can see the menus. If I take the menus out of the
shared border I'd have to put them on every page in my web, which is not
efficient at all.

I'm thinking the graphics display or not displaying is more of a browser
issue. Someone suggested Norton Antivirus, this seems to be a logical issue
to look at.

Thanks for looking at it! I appreciate all the help I'm getting here.

Is this a conflict you've seen before? Is there something I should or could
do to correct in my website to resolve the issue without expecting people to
change their Norton settings.

Thanks for all your help.

Yes. NortonInternetSecurity aggressively removes code from your page when
it "thinks" that the images are banners or ads.

The only thing you can do is to change the dimensions of the images so that
they are odd values.

However, would Norton also remove the text content as well as the images?

SOLVED MY PROBLEM!!! I went and played around with the tables last night in
Front Page. Apparently when I split the tables, it offset the table which
contained the graphics. I rebuilt the page putting everything into one table,
and VOILA!! It solved the issue. Thanks for all your input.
