Graphics on Windows Word doesn't not look as good on Word X

Hello,

We have various documents/templates created in Word under
Windows. When I opened one of these documents in Word X,
all looks okay but the company logo (which is in jpeg
format) looks grainy, almost as if the resolution is not as
high in Word X. And when printed out, it looks grainy too.
In Windows, the logo looks great both on screen and in
printed form.

At first I thought it may had been the logo format. But
when I opened the logo in another program on the Mac, the
on screen and print quality both look great (just like it
was on Windows).

Is this normal? That is, does Word X not support high res
graphics on screen and printed format?

Thanks,
SL.

It's been pointed out in another thread that this happens if you take
a document made by another version of Word (both older Mac versions
and all PC versions). It's not enough to insert the logo again. You
have to start with a fresh document. The curse even persists if you
save the document to RTF and open the RTF. You need a completely fresh
document. At that point the resolution reduction no longer occurs. Of
course when you print it, the resolution of the output device also has
to be high enough.

This is likely the problem if the resolution looks OK in Word but is
reduced when printed or made into PDF. If it's bad even on the screen,
I'm not sure what to say. However I would bet that if you recreate the
document from scratch, importing a JPEG made on the Mac, it will be
OK.
