Graphics only display in Print Preview

I'm sure it's right in front of me, but I have combed through preferences and can't find it.

Images do not display on my pages no matter what view I select. The only time I can see images are in Print Preview and when I print, so I know they're there.

Help?

Here's a bit more... Whether I drag and drop, or use Insert > Picture or File, all I see is the image outline. If I click the image, I hear an alert "bonk" and then I see anchors around the picture, but I can't grab them to resize. When I try, I just get the bonk alert, so I can't really select the image at all.

The only way to delete it is to place my cursor below it and delete until my cursor gets to the right of the image.

Very odd indeed. And probably a simple pref, if only I could find it.

No, it's NOT "right in front of you" at all.

It's cunningly hidden in "Word>Preferences>View>"Image placeholders".

Turn that off :)

Cheers

Since you didn't specify this I'm going to suggest it as a starting point,
but there must be something more even if this is why you can't resize the
image: Go to Word> Preferences> View & make sure there is no check in Image
Placeholders and that there is a check in Drawings. Also in Preferences>
Edit, see what is set for Insert/Paste Pictures As - I'm guessing that it
currently may be Behind Text. If so change it to something else. (This
latter setting can also be changed in Wrapping on the Formatting Palette on
a per image basis.)

Which version of Word? - you didn't specify.
What type of image file are you inserting?
Is this in one specific doc or *all* documents - including new blank docs?
If just this one, how was it created? Details about it.

Thanks. I can't believe how much time I wasted trying to figure this out. Much much much appreciated!
