Graphics viewed in design mode but not when published

Please help! I'm using FP 2002 and I've built a corporate
intranet site using a FP theme. All my hyperlinks work in
design mode and my graphics look fine in design mode.
However, when I publish to my web server the graphics are
replaced with an 'X' box and none of my hyperlinks work.
The status bar at the bottom indicates that it's trying to
find my linked documents in the _borders directory but I
don't have anything stored in there. Also, my page (when
previewed after publishing) continuously loops down the
screen.

I've had my network administrators reinstall server
extensions; I've recalculated hyperlinks and I've
republished countless times and nothing is helping.

When you are working on the content (pages, images, etc.) for the site, are you first opening the
web using File Menu | Open Web?

Also, you must import all externally created content into the current open FP prior to using/link to
the content.

Yes. I'm opening the web (File/Open Web) from our 'design
server' and making updates/changes and then publishing it
to the web server.

I'm not sure what you mean by importing all externally
created content. Everything works/looks fine until I
publish. Please forgive me - I'm somewhat untechnical so I
need it spelled out for me!

Also, why would it be looking for my linked pages in the
_borders directory?

If you have images, they must be save outside to the web from the image application, then imported
into the current open FP web.

If working with JPEG images, make sure they are saved in rgb format.

Usually when you have an "x" displayed, it means the
browser cannot find the file on the web server.

The graphics files must be contained within a Front Page
web (not just on your hard drive or somwhere on your
design server) to be published successfully to your web
server.

To tell if the files with which you are having problems
are correct or not, check the links to the files. This
can be done in the Hyperlink view of Front Page.

The procedure for getting files into your Front Page web
is to File | Import them from your hard drive into your
Front Page web. If you are working "live" on the design
server, then import them into the Front Page web on that
server. If you first create a Front Page web (so
called "disk based" web in Front Page terminology) on
your PC which you then publish to your design server,
then import them from wherever they are on your hard
drive into the Front Page web on your computer.
