Graphics will not move

Bill

Hi -

I was wondering why the graphic I pasted into my Word doc will not move. It
seems to be locked in place, althought I can move the various elements of the
image. I would like to move the entire image instead of moving it piece by
piece.

Thanks
- Bill

It sounds like you have the image set to InLine with Text, which makes it
behave as though it were a character. Select the image to produce the Picture
Toolbar, click the Text Wrapping button & select any of the other options.
Each works a little differently, but all convert the image to a 'floating'
object which you can repositon freely.

This can also be done on the Layout page of the Format Picture dialog box,
and if you prefer this to be the default rather than InLine, you can go to
Tools>Options>Edit and select the wrapping style of your choice from the
Insert/Paste Pictures As: list. Wrapping style for any image can still be
changed to another style whenever you wish.

It always helps to mention the version of Word you're working with...

I'm not sure what you have, but try this:

1. Display the Drawing toolbar
2. Select the big white arrow
3. Use this to drag a box around all the elements of the "picture" (make sure
the entirety of all elements is in the box). Now they should all be selected
4. From the list behind the "DRAW" button, choose "Group"
