GRAPHICS

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

When I try to open a graphic in Word 2008 I get a message that says: This application cannot open the file because it is in an unsupported graphic format or may be damaged; try to open in another application.

The graphic is a jpg and will open in all other applications. This happens every time I try to Insert from File.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Hi Karen -

This is a known bug which is currently being worked on, but the fix isn't
out yet. In the meanwhile you can work around it by making sure that the
Styles group is *not* expanded on the Formatting Palette (or click the
Toolbox button to turn the palette off temporarily) while you insert the
image.

Hi Karen -

Sorry it didn't work for you. I'm not contradicting your findings, but that
being the case it indicates that there must be something else involved...
This is the only reported instance where the workaround has failed. In order
to help get it right I'll need to have more information:

Please describe step by step exactly how you're attempting to insert the
image - the specific menu commands, etc. What can you say about the
nature/structure of the document? What happens if you attempt to insert the
image in a new blank document?

It would also help to know what happens if you attempt to insert a different
image as well as any descriptive details about the image that presents the
problem - source, size, etc. Which other applications are you able to use
the image in?
