Gray document page on screen

I can't seem to get my documents not to look grayed-out. The headers
and footers have white background and the document has a gray
background. This has got to be simple... I thought I knew MSWord
pretty well. But this has got me stumped. Everything seems to be
backwards with the color. Will somebody please let me feel sheepish
and tell me what the heck is going on. It's driving me batty. I
can't get the gray to go away! Thanks so much. By the way, if anyone
needs any formatting tips, let me know.
