Grey area on subform after last field

Hi All,

I have a subform shown as a table.

When I scroll horizontally, I see the fields that are not visible, this
is good!

The problem is that there is also a lot of grey area after the last
field. Any idea why this is and how to get rid of it?

The grey space (?to the right) of the controls on your subform are there
because your subform is defined as being that wide. Open the subform itself
(not the main form) in design mode and see if you can change the right
margin.

I tried that and no luck, the grey is staying put! It's a small thing
but makes the whole end product look a little less well-finished (to me,
anyway).

Even the table on which the subform is based has the grey at the right
side after the last field. Why is this happening? I've tried resizing
the table so that there's no scrollbar, and still it appears in the subform.

If I reduce all the fields so that they fit in the subform control
space, then the scrollbar disappears. But I can't read all the
information. If I increase the size so that the last field is just a
little beyond the subform control size, the scrollbar appears and whole
lot of grey area. Damned frustrating that is!

Any more ideas?

Are you certain that the underlying form you use as a subform has no "lines"
that stretch out to the right?

I don't understand what you mean about "resizing the table" -- I thought you
were describing working in a form.

How have you defined the form you are using as a subform? Is it a
"continuous form", a "datasheet" or a "single form"?

The subcontrol has a datasheet format.

I can't see any indication of stretched lines or anything, but I'm not
sure what you mean by those.

I tried resizing the fields of the datasheet to all fall inside the size
of the subform control and ok, but when the last one goes just a little
outside, there's an enormous grey area scrollable.

I just can't figure it out!

re-embedding it into the main form?

This is not really a problem in terms of design, the form is working OK.

I just thought I'd get rid of the grey stuff!

It seems to be present on all of my tables, queries, and subform
controls in datasheet view.

All of them!

Yup, I'm puzzled too!

Since it affects the design of your forms, I'd probably call it a design
issue, but it doesn't really matter what name it has.

And since it affects ALL of your forms, it must be a "feature", not a bug!
