Groove 2007 Sharepoint Tool and Vista

We've installed the trial version of Groove 2007 on a desktop with Vista
Business. All seem to be going okay until we tried out the 'Sharepoint Tool'
We're attempting to integrate with WSS 3.0 without success. It seems that
Vista does not have the 'My Network places' as in XP. We've watched the
video regarding Groove 2007 integration sharepoint. In the video we can
clearly see the use of the XP operating system's 'Network Place'

Is there a workaround for Groove SHarepoint Tool use with a Vista OS?

I have found it usefull to setup a "mapped Drive" in Vista: From the Start
bar enter "Create a shortcut to (map) a network drive"

And follow the instructions then follow the advcie below:

From the Groove help files:

When you add a SharePoint Files tool to a workspace, a welcome screen
displays with instructions for setting up a connection to a SharePoint
Document library. Note that other workspace members initially see a welcome
screen that lists you as the tool creator and asks them to wait for you to
set up the connection.

Click Setup... to open the Select a document library or folder dialog box.
With My Network Places selected, this dialog box lists all the SharePoint
sites you currently have mapped in My Network Places. If you do not see the
SharePoint site you want, you may want to first go to My Network Places in
Windows and add the site. Alternatively, you can double-click Entire Network
in the dialog box and browse your Windows network.

Note: Entering or pasting in a SharePoint site URL in the Address box is NOT
recommended. However, it is possible to use a pasted URL if you edit it so
that it contains only the sections required for referencing the site. For
example: http:\\servername.com\sites\mysitename

Double-click the SharePoint site that contains the document library you want
to synchronize in Groove.
The list displays all document libraries and subwebs hosted on the selected
SharePoint site.

Do one of the following:
If you want to synchronize a folder in a document library, double-click the
document library to open it and display its list of folders.

If the folder you want to synchronize is still further down the folder
hierarchy, continue to double-click folders until you see the folder you
want. Select the folder and click Select.

If you want to synchronize an entire document library into Groove, select it
and click Select.

If prompted, enter your credential information, and click OK.

Thanks for the details about Groove and the Sharepoint Tool. I'm still
having difficulty understanding the process for my situation. I'm attempting
to use the Sharepoint Tool on my local laptop to access a copmpany sharepoint
website - lets call it http://www.LaConnorRox.com/document_library I have
attempted to map and/or addition network location to Vista without success.
I've used the 'help' guide for the address layout and tried the suggestion
format in your details -http:\\www.LaConnerRox.com\document_library without
success. It it possible to create a link to sharepoint site with Vista?
(cause it is not working at my end of pipe) Any assistance would be
appreciated.

Cheers

I am also having the exact same problem. I can setup a sharepoint tool in
Windows XP, but cannot accomplish the same task in Vista - mapping drives,
etc. does not seem to solve the problem.

There seems to be a lot of people having this same issue. I just ran into
this problem last week. My company has been developing a custom solution
using the Groove SDK to set up integration automatically with document
libraries upon SharePoint site creation. This scenario had worked great on
machines running XP (development environment) until we tried to test it on a
Vista Machine. The Groove tries to setup the link to the SharePoint site and
then throws an error. The error has this message:

\\SiteName.com\DavWWWRoot is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to
find out if you have access permissions.

I have read online about problems with the way Vista access the WebDAV
folders. It would be great if someone (Microsoft) could come up with a way to
fix this issue. I will keep working toward a solution, I will post it if I
find something since other users seem to be having similar errors.

We were having this problem of not being able to access a SharePoint Document
Library through Groove on Vista, but I finally came across an update that
fixed our problem. After installing this update, Groove was able to connect
to the SharePoint Document Library in Vista just like in Windows XP. It's an
update to Web Folders:

Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=17c36612-632e-4c04-9382-987622ed1d64

hopefully this will save someone else the trouble of digging through 20+
pages of search engine results.

I installed this update, but am still not able to connect. Does anyone have
any other solutions or workaround? Microsoft are you developing a fix?

I can't believe this cost me $300 bucks (I decided it was so crazy I couldn't
get it to work I called support at MS).

Modify the sharepoint address in the select a folder name dialog box to look
like this:

A simple change of the "//" to "\\" and delete the "http:".
And then you have a Groove file that you can synchronize to your sharepoint
site.

Why it doesn't work like XP?? Sure would have been easier (and cheaper) ;)
