Groove 2007 system tray icon popup on mouseover

In Groove 2007 when I mouse over the Groove icon in the system tray
(by the clock), Groove pops up a window of pending alerts. This is
incredibly annoying to me, as I regularly (20+ times a day) casually
mouse over the icon on my way to do other things in the system tray,
and the pop-up pops up. I know that I can simply disable alerts
altogether, but that's not what I want. I want to get a pop-up
notification for *new* alerts and messages, but I do *not* want a pop-
up of all outstanding alerts any time I mouse over the Groove system
tray icon.

Is this possible, and how is it accomplished?

TIA

You can set alerts about unread info in the workspace -
Set 'File-Properties-Workspace' then Alerts tab. Then adjust the slider for
your preference - 'off' which ignores all info. Clcik apply and exit.

Or you can RH click on the alert and choose "Dismiss" which will stop it
coming back again.

Well, I know how to dismiss alerts, and I know how to completely
disable alerts (the two above suggestions), but what I want is to get
*new* alerts to pop up when they arrive, but what I don't want is for
all the active alerts to fly up from the system tray every time my
mouse passes over the Groove icon in the system tray by the clock. I
*never* want my mouse passing over the Groove icon in the system try
to cause a fly-up menu of all pending alerts. I simply want to get
the alerts to pop up when they arrive, and then never, ever pop up
again unless I do something involving a click or some other positive
action. Having the alert window fly up every single time my mouse
passes over the Groove icon is infuriating.

If you use Outlook 2003 for email, think that behavior, which is what
I want. New mail generates a pop up in the system tray with some
brief information (sender, subject, etc) and after a few seconds it
goes away. Then it never reappears even if my mouse happens to pass
over the Outlook icon in the system tray by the clock.

I assume that this isn't possible in Groove?
