Groove 2007 using a network share

I would like to know if Groove is able to use a network share to store and
synchronise the data.

for example: two laptops have installed Groove they both have a network
share to drive X:, both laptops store all there files on this drive, both
laptops are not in the office at the office at the same time are they able to
synchronise anyway?
The host who is providing this network share is unable to run Groove 2007
(but will never access or change the files)
