Groove Error Message

Sandy Macdonald

I've been running Groove on the same computer for over 18 months, but I
recently started getting an error when the application launches:

The parameter is incorrect.

HRESULT: 0x80070057
Process: Groove.exe (ID: 696 (0x000002b8))
Thread ID: 1160 (0x00000488)
Date: August 29, 2006 6:37:44 AM ADT

I don't think that anything has changed on the computer. What is generating
this erro and how can I fix it?

Hi Sandy,

The errors would indicate that a Groove DLL required by the program is no
longer registered. Essentially, there are a bunch of DLL's that have to
register with the reboot. If after installed the Groove in the administrative
account, reboot does not finish up in an account with administrative
privileges. Then the DLL's will fail to register. Therefore, please try
rebooting the machine in an administrative account. We have a Technote on
this kind of issue:

http://www.groove.net/support/kb/detail.cfm/docnum/TCN-01794

If that does not work, then try an over install of Groove from an
administrative account and then a reboot in that administrative account. Here
is the installation URL:

http://components.groove.net/Groove/DailyBuilds/latest/OCI/Setup.htm

Note: Over installing will not remove any licenses nor will it remove any
account or space data. There is also no need to uninstall first. Upgrade to
this version of Groove Virtual Office and let me know if this resolves your
problem.

Test this issue again. Is this issue resolved? If this issue still persists,
please perform the next step:

Run the GrooveIV utility
=======================
The Groove Installation Verification utility, GrooveIV, resolves many
problems that are caused by incomplete installations. You must run this
utility in a command window, as follows:

Click Start, select Run, type cmd and then click OK.
Open your Groove Bin folder. If you installed Groove in the default
location, you can do this with one of the following commands:

a. (on Windows 2000 or XP) cd \program files\groove
networks\groove\bin

b. (on earlier versions of Windows) cd progra~1\groove~1\groove\bin

Type GrooveIV -nocom -nover -noreg -regall and press Enter.
Close the Command Prompt window.

Is this issue resolved?

Let me know the results.
