Groove Invitations

I have installed Office Groove 2007 Beta. I'm under the impression that I
followed the installation instructions correctly. The existing workspace I
used with 3.1 did not appear. I asked the administrator of the workspace to
re-invite me. He assures me he has sent an invitation but no invitation
appears when I run Groove. I have also not received an invitation via
e-mail. I have confirmed that my Groove is "activated."

Under Options/Preferences, all my contact information is listed in the
public Groove directory.

Perhaps related is that when I select "show alerts" under
Options/Preferences, the taskbar icon shows a red circle with minus sign.
When I hover the cursor over this icon it displays a box stating that alerts
are suppressed. When I toggle "show alerts" in the "common tasks" area of
the launchbar, it changes to "suppress alerts" and the taskbar icon appears
without the red circle with minus sign.

Hello,

In groove 2007 there is a setting to prevent accepting "old" 3.x
workspaces and it is activated by default.

In the same way, there is a security on file types Groove 2007 can
handle. For example, by default, Groove 2007 refuses to send or receive
Instant Messages where an exe file is attached...

This security option was not checked in my install. I ran the install again
and selected "repair," rebooted and it still was unchecked. I checked it and
later unchecked it. Nothing seems to have an effect. I am still not able to
find 3.1 contacts and I am still not seeing the invitation my 3.1collaborator
sent me. I am rather perplexed.

It seems like I didn't not understood your question well.

The setting is about workspace. Contacts are another story:
2007 contacts and 3.1 contacts are listed in distinct public directories
so you can not search 3.1 contact from a 2007 client, except if you
choose local network or known contact as "search scope".

As a last option, you can ask your collaborator to save their own groove
identities as file and send them by email...

Hope this helps.

Thank you, Francois. I'm not sure what the problem was but the owner of the
3.1 workspace I was trying to connect with finally sent me an invitation that
was received on my end. So I am now a participant in this workspace. I
haven't had time to find out what had not been done right on the other end.

Thanks, too, for the tips on contacts.

Regards
