Groove - Real Time Collaborative Editing with MS Word?

I work for a quasi-judicial gov agency with five attorneys that frequently
work together on the same document. It becomes a real hassel to include
everyone's edits in one document - we basically end up with five versions of
the same document... We are looking for a way to collaboratively edit a
document in real time, and we've tried Sharepoint, but it is awkward to work
with and only allows one person to edit at a time.

Is this something Groove can do? How? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Dear JMM,

Based on my testing, the results of using Groove will be the same as using
SharePoint. When there are multiple people to modify one Document, then at
the same time, only one people can save the file. If other people save it at
the same time, then his mofidication will be saved in a new document file and
the name of it will be "...1"

Best regards,

Gell - thanks for the feedback. You've probably already checked out CoWord,
which seems to be the ticket. We're not going to try it because it's
offshore (the IT guy is a little jumpy), but it would be great if real time
collaborative editing was a function in Groove. I'm still going to recommend
Groove as a way to organize the office, and hopefully it will be available
soon...

Anyway, I appreciate the reply.

Hi,
just some ideas... I do not know if they could meet your requirements...
you could evaluate OneNote... You can start share live real time sharing of
notes with it maybe a start for just capturing content...
Another thing is Vista's Windows Meeting Space you can work in real time
with the same shared program with it...
Cheers
Clemens
