group and outline

I have an large worksheet that I add a column to every week. I have been
hiding previous weeks using Group and Outline function. However I now get
the error "Cannot shift objects off the sheet" and I am not able to colapse
the columns (I am up to column ER and I am using apx 6 Groupings). I found
if I put my largest group into two smaller groups I was able to avoid this
error for an additional 4-6 added columns but I now am getting the error
again.

What are the limitations of this function? Are there any work arounds or
ways to continue to use the groupings.

My backup plan is to move half the largest group to a new worksheet tab but
then I will need to update rows on two sheets (adding work) when I add
information I am tracking.

Thanks for the help,

This actually sounds like a different limitation that you've hit on mor
by the fact you have so many columns or the spread sheet has been aroun
for a while and there has been many columns inserted into it. The thin
is if there was ever data in the columns that have moved to the fa
right of a spreadsheet (even if those cells are now blank) Excel won'
let you "shift" potential data off of the sheet. Usually there may b
some formatting or something hidden in a cell that is causing th
issue.

One possible workaround is to select all the columns beyond you
current last column with data, in this case maybe "ES" all the way t
"IV" (in Excel 2003 and older) and with the entire columns selecte
right click and choose delete to clear out any hidden remnants. Also tr
(just for kicks) selecting all rows below the last used row all the wa
down the sheet (with the row below your last used row selected, pres
Shift + Ctrl + down arrow to select all rows to the bottom of the page
then delete these as well. Save the workbook, close and reopen.

Hopefully this has gotten rid of the problem but if not write back an
I'll look more into it.
