group as resouces

Hi

I would like to add a group of our engineers as resources on all of our
projects as standard. This will allow the resources to see the projects in
their time sheets using 'add lines' whether they have been assigned work on
tasks or not. We have many occasions where engineers spend half a day here
and there helping out on projects for which they haven't been formally given
work.

Is there any way that we can use domain groups or teams to give these
resources visibility of the projects in their time sheets without having to
add each resource individually?

Thanks in advance

Hi Andy,

Can you try with "All projects in the project server" in the category
for this users?
This will enable them views all existing as well as new projects that
are coming. But I suspect the RBS and their category permissions. You
need to ensure and setup such a way that they gain based on what they
need/expect.

If your using 2007 then you could use teams to add a group of resources to
each of your plans. You can achieve this by creating an Enterprise Template
with the groups already assigned to the project.

You can't add new tasks through timesheets, however with the right
permissions, you could add them through My Tasks. New tasks created by team
members are passed onto the PM for approval before being added to the plan.

Thanks both for your advice on this matter. I tried various ways of
tackling this problem and I decided the easiest way for us to add resources
to all new projects was to change the project templates to include all
necessary resources in the resource pool by default.
