ive group my report for every department

but how can i make this NOT to sort ascendingly or the other way as it was
required on sorting and grouping option

Grouping IS sorting.
If you group on department it sorts all records with the same department
number/designator together.
You do not have to sort anything else if you do not want to.

How do you want the groups to be sorted?

so there's no way of grouping my report without having the department sorted
ascendingly

i thought a query or a code will do

I've read this type of question several times over the past years and no one
has posted any sample data/records with their initial posts. Can you provide
some samples of how you would expect your records to display in the report?

Do you have a Department table?

the department is from the combo value list (has no table)

Deparments:

MARKETING
PRODUCTION
ADMIN

i want to group the details but having it not to sort ascendingly as it will
make the "ADMIN" be the first on the group MARKETING, PRODUCTION and ADMIN
and so on...

is it possible duane please help
thank you

I rarely use value lists. Create a small lookup table of departements with
the name and the sort value. Add this table to your report's record source
query and join the Department Fields. Add the "sort value field" to the
report's record source field list so you can use it to sort in the report.
