Group by properties - Date

In a new DAP, I create a group level heading (date) and select the group
filter control - to select records by "Date" using the drop down control. It
defaults to month and I need it to select by "Day". When I change the "Group
On = dscDay" in the Group Level Properties, it does not change the group
level heading to day it remains month. Any other properties I should change?
