group calendaring

We have a group calendar into which everyone in a unit
creates his/her appointments. I have two questions:

1. How can we put this group calendar into individuals'
Outlook folder lists so that we don't have to keep using
the drop-down menu [file->open->other user's file]?
Copying it into the folder list doesn't work because it's
then no longer accessible to the rest of the group.

2. It's easy to create an appointment in the group
calendar and copy it into one's personal calendar (by
inviting yourself to the appointment from the group
calendar). Is there any way to do the process in reverse:
create a personal activity and invite the group calendar?
I've tried it; I get no error message; but the activity
never shows up in the group calendar.

Thanks so much for any feedback!

Where does the calendar reside? In a mailbox? A public folder?
