"Group" function won't allow "Sort"

I have been having difficulty with sorting the data in my excel document, as
the "Sort" option is not highlighted in the "Data" menu. This began with the
document name in the top bar being followed by the word [Group], in the
square parenthesis. I don't know how or who changed the "Group" feature, as
no one who shares this file can say anything about how it appeared. Nothing
else seems different about the workbook. If you have any thoughts, please

The [Group] indicator in the Title Bar usually means that you have *more*
than one sheet selected. Take a look at your sheet tabs & you'll most likely
see that at least 2 are white.

Since you can only sort the content of one list - therefore one sheet - at a
time, you must first deselect the other sheet(s). Once your active cell is
in the list on that sheet you should be able to Sort with no problem.
