Grouping dates in a Pivot Table

I am trying to Group dates in a large database to summarize activity by
week. The entries in the database are for only one day each, with
multiple entries for some days and none for others. When I Group these
dates to summarize by week, Excel puts them in an order that is out of
sequence, based on the month and day, as opposed to putting them in
true chronological order.
For example, instead of putting the weeks in order by 1/7/03-1/16/03,
1/14/03-1/20/03, 1/21/03-1/27/03, etc... (which is what I want), it
puts them in order by 1/6/04-1/12/04, 1/7/03-1/13/03, 1/13/04-1/19/04,
1/14/03-1/20/03, 1/20/04-1/26/04, etc...
Is that just wrong or what? I've tried all the alternatives in the
settings for sorting and grouping and cannot get it in true
chronological order. Any suggestions? Please Help!

Make sure you only have Days highlighted in your grouping (I believe Months
is always selected as default), then make sure you set number of days to 7.
This works both for windows and Mac (excel X Mac and excel 2000-2003
Windows). I just tested with some random dates in a 3 year range and they
group nicely like

1/1/2003 - 1/7/2003
1/8/2003 - 1/14/2003
all the way to 10/26/2005 - 11/1/2005 where my data ended
