Grouping Handwriting with Graphics

Lisa

In my notebook, I've pasted a graphic (diagram) from a powerpoint slide on
which I've subsequently annoteded with arrows and labels in handwriting. Now
when I add / remove writing space, my graphic moves, but my handwriting gets
left behind. How can I group these two objects so they move together? I'm
looking for functionality similar to in PowerPoint where I can select
multiple objects, right click, and choose "Group" and they become one object
until I choose to ungroup them. Thanks in advance for any help!

I second that.

This bit me this week- never figured out how to get by it so I just deleted
the whole drawing and put in a snapshot of a visio drawing.

Lisa,

I would expect this to work. I will describe for one piece of
annotation and one diagram. Extend as appropriate for more diagrams
and/or annotations.

1. Click on the upper part of the note container containing the labels
2. Hold the Ctrl key down and drag across the graphic, making sure
that all the graphic is contained in the selected area. If you miss
part of the graphic it won't be selected.
3. Release the Ctrl key after both the annotation and graphic are
selected (dashed line around them)
4. Drag to where you want the graphic and annotation to be moved to.

They should move together.

Ah, okay, bring up the Tablet Input Panel and tap the Ctrl key on the
Keyboard. You can also use various settings on your pen button (if it has
one).

You can select all of your objects, text and drawings, and move them
together. However, you will have to reselect them all every time you want
to do this. There is no way to group items in Onenote despite what others
may try to imply. You have to be extra careful as to where you place text
and drawings and how you insert space or they will always get separated.
I wrote a long article about it months ago. Look at
