Grouping shapes and topics in Brainstorming Visio 2007

I am trying to link a smiley face to a topic so that if I move the topic the
smiley will follow.
I can join them with an Asociation line but if I move the topic the smiley
gets left behind with an association link extended.
Using the auto arrange facility creates some pretty intersting diagrams with
the smiley not moving.

You could use Data Graphics, which has a smiley face Icon Set, instead of
the annotations that appear in the Brainstorming and Legend stencils. The
trick is to set up the data graphic such that the icon is always displayed
(normally they only display when a condition is true).
