Not sure if I should ask in here or what but here goes.
I normally run Outlook 2003 (from my MS Office installation) for mail, OE
for news and FireFox as my browser. Up until recently everything was just
peachy. So recently I installed GroupWise 6.5 so that I could run some tests
for a client and that's when the pain began. I uninstalled GroupWise and
here is my list of problems that I have no idea how to solve:
1. When I click a URL in an email message I get the famed "Locate Link
Browser" window. All the help I've found on this topic says to uncheck the
DDE checkbox in the File Types settings for the http options. I've done that
and it has NO effect. I've shut down Outlook and restarted and restarted the
machine as well. Still no effect.
2. I can't open attachments in a message unless I detach them first (and
then open them from wherever I detatched them to). For example if someone
sends me a jpg file attached to a message and I try to open the attachment I
get "File Access Denied" (same is true for any other file type attached).
3. Clicking an email link (like mailto:[email protected]) in a webpage
causes about 50 browser windows to open up very quickly and does not open up
a blank emial message.
4. I have a "news" menu option in Outlook which I set up per all the
instructions that are available out there. For the last year or so it worked
fine and opened up OE to my news boxes. Now the button does nothing. I've
tried removing it and putting it back on tehre but that hasn't helped. It
does nothing. So now I have to open up OE independently and always get the
"do you want OE to be your default email... " message all the time (never
had taht before when opening it from the button in Outlook).
5. I used to be able to select multiple files in windows explorer, right
click them and select "Send To" -> "Outlook Recipients" and they'd be
attached to a new blank message. I can still do that but only the first file
selected is attached. I have to manually attach the other ones.
Again, all of the above worked as I would expect before installing and
uninstalling GW 6.5.
Everything is up to date with latest service packs and such. GroupWise
changed some settings and I have no idea how to reverse them. In fact I
think it didn't completely uninstall as I can still seee remnants of it
occasionally. Never ever going to install GroupWise on this machine again!!!
I sure hope someone can help me out here. I really don't want to reinstall
my office tools.
