Hammocks created using PSI

Hello all!

I am trying to do a conversion from Artemis ProjectView into Project Server
for a client. I am using the PSI for all my calls, including creating the
project, creating the tasks, creating the predecessors, etc.

I have finally found something that I am really struggling with.
ProjectView allows a user to create a TRUE HAMMOCK. In ProjectView, you can
create a Hammock and the start date of the hammock is the start date of one
task, and the finish date of the hammock is the finish date of one other
task. How the tasks are constrained is of little bearing. You can have as
many tasks between the start and ending task as you desire, and they don't
have to be tied (as a predecessor or successor) in between the start and
ending tasks of the hammock. The hammock is truly self sustaining and just
knows how to handle itself.

Microsoft Project has outlining and that will just not handle the type of
data that I have to convert. I have just found out that you can use some
special features within the Microsoft Project client to create what I would
call a real Hammock. You can create a task (hammock) and then do a Copy Cell
on the start date of a different task and then Paste Special into the start
date of the hammock task. Then, you do the same for the Finish Date. This is
as close as I can get to a hammock and it does work.

I am wondering if someone might know how to emulate this by using the PSI?

thanks!

I do not believe that is possible through the PSI.
Perhaps there is some other way to achieve what you want without a hammock
task?

I didn't think it was possible, but I thought I would ask.

I may be able to figure out some other way to accomplish this. The problem
is more in the existing data than anything. There will be a task between the
start and end task that make up the hammock that has nothing to do with the
hammock. Its predecessor will be some activity way up in the schedule. There
is no reason you can't do this, but it prevents me from creating an outline
that includes all of the activities that make up the hammock.
