Hand-written scribble, Scanned, transcribed in Word 2003 to a Font (!?)

I scanned an item in hand-written text into a TIF file, and now want to
save myself time by not having to transcribe by re-typing into whatever
font. So, I want to high-lite the written text on the scanned item,
and superimpose or transcribe by high-lighting the written text, and
then changing the hand-written scribble to Word 2003 Fonts & Font Size,
e.g. hand-written scribble to Times New Roman 12. In Word 2003, can
that be done?
