Handwriting Functions of OneNote in Windows XP

Corey--VA/Student

I have a Tablet PC but I do not have Windows XP Tablet Edition because it was
not offered by the OEM.

I guess I really have 2 questions...#1 Is there any way to use ink in
OneNote with out WinXP Tablet Edition? #2 Is there any way to purchase a
copy of Windows Tablet Edition to install on my tablet PC.

Thanks

If you don't have the Windows XP and the Tablet PC Edition installed, you
probably don't have a true Tablet PC, Corey. What brand is the computer?

The Tablet PC OS is not available via retail unless preinstalled by the OEM
on a Tablet PC. If the Tablet PC OS isn't installed, then it isn't a Tablet
PC.

Which OEM and what model?

Otherwise, there is no native Ink support in OneNote; it relies on the Ink
services provided by the Tablet OS.

The Tablet PC Edition works with specific hardware configurations, Corey,
and that machine is not one of them. For one thing, it has only a
touchscreen, not a digitizer. See the hardware requirements here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/tabletpc/hardware/default.aspx These
companies are Microsoft partners, producing Tablet PCs:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/tabletpc/partners/manufacturers.mspx The
only commercially available software setup (Windows XP Pro with the Tablet
PC Edition 2005) is via one of the OEM machines.

first one is a pure Page can not be found..
Second one is a page generated by Microsoft.com saying
"We’re sorry, but there is no Microsoft.com Web page that matches your
entry. It is possible you typed the address incorrectly, or the page may no
longer exist. You may wish to try another entry or choose from the links
below, which we hope will help you find what you’re looking for."

In the replies...the second one works. Takes me straight to the list of
manufacturers and Vendors. the first one never worked :-/

Corey, since what you received in the product is not what you
expected/wanted, you might want to look into the availability in your area
of something like an Averatec C3500, a true Tablet PC, and very close to the
price range for you: http://www.averatec.com/notebooks/C3500.htm You might
also be interested in comparable Tablets on Tablet PC MVP Terri Stratton's
web site: http://thetabletpc.net where she has all the convertible, slate
and hybrid models in her charts.
