Handwriting tips needed

P

Peter Maddern

I just got a digital input device (tablet) for use with OneNote.

Problem is I can't get the hang of inputting neat handwriting even with the
guide rule lines on.

I've tried writing on the tablet with my eyes looking at the screen and I've
tried ignoring the screen and concentrating on writing onto the blank tablet
surface but I don't seem to be able to achieve good flowing handwriting of
the same quality that I'd get on a lined piece of paper!

Any tips e.g. stick a ruled paper onto the tablet surface or something else?

What are the experiences out there for decent results with handwriting input?

The paper on the tablet will help keep you within the lines, but you
won't see what you've written without looking at the screen.

I'd recommend practicing while looking at the screen. Your brain will
adapt. It's simply a matter of hand-eye coordination.

Keep in mind that other than impressing your grade school teachers, you
won't gain anything from the neat handwriting in OneNote. Unless you're
using OneNote on a Tablet PC, OneNote will not be able to perform
handwriting recognition or search/index the contents of what you've
written. OneNote will treat anything you "write" with the mouse or an
external digitizer as a picture.
