Hanging application

We've recently upgraded our company to Win XP and Off XP
and since then users have been experiencing a lot of
problems when they access (mostly) word documents from
over the network. It completely freezes there system or
takes a very long time to save the doc. When I look into
the event viewer I get see the follwing error.

Hanging application WinWord.exe, version 10.0.6612.0,
hang module hung app, version 0.0.0.0, hang address
0x0000000

All service packs, updates, etc are installed. I also
thought I read somewhere that it might help to increase
the Cachesize and that didn't seem to work.

Please Help!!

Hi, HarryB. Two things to try:
1. If there are any mapped network drives that are not available,
disconnect them.
2. Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton AntiVirus.
See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to use Office
programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more info.

Norton Corporate Edition does not have an Office Plugin. But if you had
an older version of Norton installed on the computer before you got
Corporate Edition, then the Office Plugin from the older version could
still be registered in Windows, even if you uninstalled the older
version. Try searching for a file named OFFICEAV.DLL on the hard drive
(include hidden and system files and folders). This file is the .dll
for the Norton Office Plugin. If you find it, note the folder where it
is located, and use the "regsvr32 /u" method described in
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to use Office programs
with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" to unregister the .dll.

We do have never installed any other version of NAV. We are a fairly large
organization that has relied on the Corporate Edition for years and have
never installed anything but. So please give me another suggestion!!!
