Hard Drive Failure

My hard drive failed. I installed a new one and I My office X was
transfered from my laptop. Now Work Excall and Powerpoint will not
work. They lload and on the first command they quit. I reloaded the
software from my office update disk and it will not let me complete the
instalaltion since it cannot find an old version of office to indicate
that i have a legal copy of the software. is there any way i can reload
the office X program and make it work?

You should be able to insert your Office 98 or Office 2001 disk when
prompted to find your previous installation, in order to confirm that
you have a valid upgrade path.
