HARD RETURNS within a cell

I need to know how to do a hard return when typing text into a cell. On a PC
it's supposedly Alt-Enter. But what is it on a Mac?

This should do it:

Command (Apple) + Option + Enter

Cheers!

I had the same question. I want a return or two lines of text in a cell that
is custom formatted to read something like. "Balance Must Be" $# "On The
15th"

Command Option Enter doesn't seem to work.

Make sure the cell is set to Wrap Text

Make sure the cell is set to Wrap Text

It is.

The cell is custom formatted to display "Balance Must Be" $# "On The
15th"

Does that matter? I want a return after # so the message will fit in the
box.

I'm afraid you can't have it working in a custom format. You can have it
within a formula. Say the expected result is in A1, type:

="Balance Must Be $" & A1 & CHAR(13) & "On The 15th"

If your cell is set to Wrap Text, it should work...
