"hard" space - How can I keep two words together?

A

amcs

I would like to keep certain words together on the same
line so one word doesn't get separated from the other in
auto word wrapping (i.e. such as January 1, 2003 - I
don't want the January separated from the "1")

In Word Perfect this was called "hard space"???

HELP - does anyone know?????

In Word it's called a "nonbreaking space" and is inserted with
Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar.
