Hardware Graphics Acceleration in PPS-files

Michael Scheck

I´m wondering wether or not Hardware Graphics Acceleration is switched
on when using pps-files. It seems to me that the animations are a bit
smoother when opening a ppt-file in powerpoint rather than
double-clicking the same file as a ".pps" .Is there a way to check?

Where is this option saved? Is it a part of a presentation, or is it a
program setting saved in some kind of preference-file? I´d like to
have this option on all the time, but see it switched off regularly on
my computer. How can I make sure it is always on?

Any ideas?
Thanks, Michael.

There is no difference between .ppt an .pps, other than the way it is opened by
PowerPoint. the difference being, .ppt opens in the edit mode, and .pps opens in
the slideshow mode. The viewer(s) of course opens both in the slideshow mode.

Graphics Acceleration on some machines does affect the way PowerPoint performs,
and is often recommended that it be turned down. AFAIK it is not turned off by
PowerPoint.

In PowerPoint 2002 or 2003 it depends whether Hardware acceleration is
switched on in PowerPoint under Slideshow>Set up show. This is a machine
specific setting and not something you can save with the file. If you have
it switched on in PowerPoint then it will be on for both .ppt and .pps.
