Has anyone seen this problem?

I have Project Server 2002 and Sharepoint loaded on the
web server and project 2000 loaded on 3 workstations.
All appears to work well except that a project file
stored on the server in my home directory can be
published to web with no problem. I even published one
from the dogbert test account and it is functional. A
file stored on the hard drive of a workstation will not
publish correctly. They appear on the server with a
little "stop sign" to the left of them and they cannot be
opened.

Has anyone seen this one before?

Thanks

Chuck

Chuck:

Because you're posting to pro_and_server and to this group, it's difficult
to make recommendations as now I'm uncertain whether you want an enterprise
configuration or a workgroup. The two work very differently. From this post
it sounds like you're trying for a workgroup. Using Project 2000 with
Project Server certainly puts you in the workgroup category.

How do you suppose that the Project Server application could access the plan
file stored on your local hard drive? Is your hard drive, or part of it, a
network share? How would the application gain access to it if it weren't?
Does this help you understand why the project stored on the server works and
the ones on your workstations don't? You can store the plan in any location
so long as it's shared on the network and you use UNC conventions to save
it.
