Has MS corrected any of these incompatibilities in 2007?

I love the simplicity of Publisher, and would like to continue using it. I
would upgrade to 2007 if someone could tell me these Browser issues were
corrected. If not, is there any web design program that approaches the
simplicity of Publisher? Frontpage looks like a nightmare....

As I suggested in your other post, most of the cross-browser compatibility
issues for Pub webs have been worked out.

In Pub 2003 you could create code that is compatible with IE and FF, and
thus most other browsers by:

1. Go to Tools > Options > Web tab and uncheck "Rely on VML..." and "Allow
PNG...".
2. Do not use a master page in your publication.
3. Links that work in IE but are killed in FF are commonly because of
grouping. If you ungroup the design element that has the link, the link
usually works in FF.

In Pub 2007, the option to "Rely on VML..." has been removed because of
input during the beta.

If you have a site up that does not seem to work in FF, please post the URL
and we can usually tell you how to fix it. Please tell us which version of
Publisher you are using. If you are using Pub 2002, then upgrading to 2007
would probably be wise, as it was probably the worst version for producing
webs. Pub 2000 produces simpler code that is cross-browser compatible and
less bloated.

As to the question of whether to use Publisher to produce your website, that
depends on the scope and goals you have for your site. Publisher is a DTP
and with ease of use does come with limitations when it comes to building a
website. However, if all you want is a relatively simple, small static
website, then Publisher will probably be fine. You can produce a good
looking, functional, cross-browser compatible site with Publisher.

If you are planning a large, or dynamic site, then another program might be
a better choice. MSFT suggests Web Expression, but it is a whole lot more
expensive and it will take you a lot longer to learn. FrontPage was easier
and less expensive. There are many other choices. As Rob suggested in the
other post, and as Mike Koewler suggests, Serif WebPlus sounds like a good
one.
