Have Office 2003 on Desktop, Need to Loan Onto Laptop

I have Office 2003 on my Dell desktop, just got a new laptop and I want to
load it on since I should be able to have it on both a desktop and laptop. I
thought that I had the disks of it, but I think Office is on the Dell setup
disks. Does anyone know how I can get it loaded to my laptop? Thanks.

If it came with the Dell desktop, it is only for that desktop and cannot be installed on any other machine, even if the desktop dies.

Milly:

I looked at the EULA before purchasing my laptop and it states that it can
be on one device and a portable device, I don't see any language that
contradicts that. My hard drive crashed late last year and I had someone
reinstall everything, which included Office, so I thought that I had the
disks, that is why I believe it is on the Dell disks. I also asked a few
other people and thought the same, but again, we thought I had the disks
separate.

I know what the product ID is, could I possibly use someone else's disks and
put in my product ID?

Thanks for your help.

I think what you were looking at is for the RETAIL version - what has been
pre-installed on your laptop is an OEM version, and that version can only be
installed on the original machine.......unless the invoice for your laptop
says differently.

Bob:

Here is the part of the EULA and I don't see the problem, any clarification
would be greatly appreaciated.

1. GRANT OF LICENSE. Microsoft grants you the following rights provided
that you comply with all terms and conditions of this EULA:
1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or
other device; and
(b) install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device
for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of the Software.

I don't see anything further down in the EULA that contradicts this, if you
know of a spot, please let me know. Thanks for your help.

I believe that all OEM product IDs have OEM in them. I could be mistaken
tho.

That looks like the Retail version EULA, and that would indicate that
the install wasn't on the "Dell Setup disks". You will need to find the
Office 2003 CD to do the install. The key should be with it when you
locate it.

I know what the product ID is from my installed version on the desktop, is
there a way to get the files if I can't find the disks? Thanks for all your
help.
