Have Word *.WBK file want to open in Word 2003

I created a Word file in Office 2007 (Word) and brought the files to my
office where I only have Word 2003.
One file had the *.docx extension and I was able to d/l a converter app from
MS to open and re-save as *.doc.

I cannot open the *.wbk file ("Backup of blah...blah.wbk")
It will not open or convert or allow me to save any text.
Any ideas please?

Thanks,
Walter

Since both versions use .wbk as the file extension for backup copies, I'm
wondering if that's confusing Word 2003. I'd try changing the .wbk file
extension to .docx.so Word 2003 knows which converter to use to open the
file.

If that doesn't work then you may need to open it in Word 2007 and save it
in an earlier file format, Word 97-2003, in order to be able to open it in
Word 2003.
