Having an Address Book on my Laptop

R

RuthF

I am moving away from Office 2000 for my desktop system which includes a
Contacts Address Book.

What options do I have for transferring or creating an Address Book on my
new Laptop using Office Home and Student 2007 -- or some other software for
an Address book.

My desire for an address book is to print a hardcopy to keep by my phone
AND to be able to easily print address labels. I do not think printing
address labels in WORD-anything is easy.

What should I do to accomplish this?

Thanks, RuthF

Plenty around - just do a Google

In Word 2007 it is EXCEPTIONALLY easy as long as you have Outlook 2007 -
just open Labels and insert the address direct from the Outlook Contacts
folder...

Assuming your Laptop has Vista, it has Windows Mail and Contacts by default

You could export your Outlook Contents to a scv file, then I believe import
that into Vista Contacts
There are other methods for transfering both Outlook Contacts & mail, but
they become slightly complex.

Gordon, I haven't opened Office 2007 yet. Will it have a Contacts database
like Outlook 2000 Home and Small Business did?

So far, it appears the only place I see any info about Contacts is in
Windows Live Messenger when I tried to import my Contacts from my desktop
(Office 2000). I don't see how to utilize that address info. Unfortunately,
Messenger shows over 600 'Contacts' with little or no info brought from
desktop system.

Thanks.

I tried to imort my cooontacts from Office 2000 from my desktop, but they
show in Live Messenger NOT Love Mail. And there is no folder to Contacts in
Live Mail.

There must be a way! I still don't understand it.

Thanks

If it contains Outlook, yes.

And how are you trying to "import" those contacts?

Do you still have access to the old machine? If so, transfer the contacts on
the old machine from Outlook to Outlook Express, copy the resultant WAB file
to your Vista machine. Open Windows Mail and do File-Import-Windows
Contacts.

Office H&S doesnt Contain Outlook
You need to export, on the Office 2000 pc your Outlook contacts to a form
that windows Live Mail or your Vista Contacts can import
