Having contact name shown in tasks and appointments

I understand how to link a contact to an activity so it can be viewed in
history. However, my issue is how to get the contact name to show as part of
the task list, appointment, etc. For instance, if I have 10 tasks assigned
for a particular day, I want to see which contact each task is associated
with in the task list view, or when I view my calendar I want to see which
client I am meeting with at 2pm tomorrow. Am I missing something here?
