Having difficulty with online registration

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I tried to register my Office 2008 online, but I couldn't get past the page where we enter our email address and the squiggly image of numbers/letters (I have forgotten my password, if I ever had one before). After 8-9 tries, using two different email addresses & caps & no caps for the letters, I gave up. Any ideas? Is there a phone # with a real person, or a messenger online support service?

it's no big deal. It's in no way required and you can safely run Office
without this step,
